Wednesday, May 3, 2023 is National Bike & Roll to School Day. All families are encouraged to have their child try walking, biking, or rolling from home or from a convenient drop-off spot near their school. Lane School students who can't bike all the way from home can be dropped off to ride up the Narrow Gauge Trail to Lane on a chaperoned ride sponsored by Bedford's Bicycle Advisory Committee. The ride will depart from the Bank of America parking lot at Hillside & Great Rd. on May 3 at 8:00 AM sharp. Please drop your child off by 7:55

The Bedford High School (MA) Theater Department presents the fourth annual Playwright’s Festival on Thursday, May 4th, 2023! The ten plays in this festival are written, directed, and designed by BHS students. The playwrights are Alex Coyman, Carolyn Crews, Charlie Desjardins, Cate Galante, Rachel Gould, Dasha Kerov, Connor McClung, John Mitchell, Shannon Sullivan, and Emily Zhu. The directors, designers, and actors are Iskra Arreaga, Verna Bowlan, Maggie Chessman, Dylan DeJesus, Yoana Dimitrova, Eve Fombu, Laura Fonseca-Morlock, Dhara Kaushik, Evan Kelly, Jennie Noh, Francesca Pellegrino, Emma Purtell, and Healy Weisman. The Bedford Athletic Association’s 19th annual fundraising golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, at the Patriot Golf Course, 200 Springs Rd. Shotgun start begins at noon. And this time, there’s a chance to win a car. According to Derek Billouin, president of the BAA, the player who shoots a hole-in-one on the fifth hole will win a Volkswagen provided by Colonial Automotive Group of Wellesley. On Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 7 pm the Bedford Center for the Arts Photo Group will welcome back one of its own, Dennis Rainville, for a virtual presentation entitled:  From Screen to Print - Sharpening,  Vignetting, Dodging and Burning. Dennis is a Fine Art Photographer who enjoys dealing in multiple genres of photography. His work ranges from Landscape, Still Life, Long Exposure, Architectural, Focus Stacked, Time Lapse, and Black and White photographs. Middlesex Community College will close out the Spring 2023 “A World of Music” concert series with a performance by noted Peruvian cellist Jesús Castro-Balbi at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 12 at MCC’s Concert Hall in Bedford. All of MCC’s “A World of Music” concerts are free and open to the public. MCC’s Concert Hall is located in Henderson Hall at 591 Springs Road in Bedford. Parking is available on-campus.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will host its annual Thrift Sale on Saturday. June 17, from 9:00am to 2:00pm in the Parish Hall. The Thrift Sale will feature new or gently used clothing, kitchenware, books/DVDs/CDs/puzzles, games & toys, household goods, small furniture, and sporting goods. Donations of the above will be collected in the parish hall during the drop-off period from June 11th – 16th . Please check with the parish if you are unsure if an item can be donated.
