Noted historian and author Anthony Sammarco will trace the influence of molasses in the “Triangle Trade,” the 18th-century world economy involving rum, slaves, and sugar cane, and its important connection to Massachusetts. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 is National Bike & Roll to School Day. All families are encouraged to have their child try walking, biking, or rolling from home or from a convenient drop-off spot near their school. Lane School students who can't bike all the way from home can be dropped off to ride up the Narrow Gauge Trail to Lane on a chaperoned ride sponsored by Bedford's Bicycle Advisory Committee. The ride will depart from the Bank of America parking lot at Hillside & Great Rd. on May 3 at 8:00 AM sharp. Please drop your child off by 7:55
The Bedford Council on Aging wants to ensure that all older adults feel welcome, safe and included at their Senior Center programs. They are inviting LGBTQ+ older adults, caregivers and friends to join them for a lunchtime discussion about what it is like to grow older as LGBTQ+ people in Bedford and surrounding areas and what services and programs (including a community cafe) might be of interest. The ten plays in this festival are written, directed, and designed by BHS students. The Bedford Athletic Association’s 19th annual fundraising golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, at the Patriot Golf Course, 200 Springs Rd. Shotgun start begins at noon. And this time, there’s a chance to win a car. According to Derek Billouin, president of the BAA, the player who shoots a hole-in-one on the fifth hole will win a Volkswagen provided by Colonial Automotive Group of Wellesley.
