The Umbrella Visual Arts program, in collaboration with A La Luz, presents the revolutionary, multimedia exhibition, Points of Return. Featuring the work of 27 international artists, Points of Return is the first physical exhibition of the acclaimed online exhibition of the same name. This environmental art exhibition sees The Umbrella divided into themed spaces. A journey has been mapped out to allow visitors fresh and engaging insights into wide-ranging aspects of the climate crisis, its end destination that of resolute optimism. The Art of the Automobile, photographs by Steve Edson, is on view at the Bedford Free Public Library gallery until July 12. "Form and function welded, bolted, and stitched together for speed, comfort, performance, and safety. My photographs explore the precision of bent metal and chrome to conform to the designer's vision for the efficiencies of aerodynamics combined with the beauty of timeless style." Open library hours.
The Waste Reduction Circle is a sub-committee of Mothers Out Front that is working to address issues of food waste reduction in our community. We meet monthly on the first Tuesday of the month. The Town of Bedford is pleased to announce the first 3 events of the 2023 schedule for collection of Household Hazardous Products. The collections will take place at the Town of Lexington Landfill Site at 60 Hartwell Avenue from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the following Saturdays: April 22, May 13, and June 10. Additional dates for 2023 will be posted once finalized. The event is free of charge to Bedford residents but pre-registration is required. As part of the continuing Bedford Safe Campaign, the Bedford Police and Health Department's, Bedford Board of Health and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office will host a Bedford gun buyback event on Saturday June 3, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Bedford Department of Public Works (DPW), 314 the Great Road. The focus is on providing residents with a safe and secure way of removing unwanted firearms from their homes. Residents will receive a $100 Visa gift card for any firearm turned in. Documentary screening and pre-recorded talk by Dr Gary Husband from 7:30pm in the Main Theater, preceded by a creative oceanic video projection in the Black Box Theater and exhibition viewing.
