What’s Bedford Thinking: Can You Hear Me Now? Cell Service

This past week there was a massive cell phone outage that affected more than 1.7 million AT&T customers and disrupted 911 services in several states. A technical error was determined to be the cause, not the cyberattack that some feared. Some of the advice given was that people should use their landlines. We did a snap poll exactly one year ago, asking how many of our readers still have a landline.  Amongst the readers who answered, 71 percent said they still have a landline. A recent survey says that in the Northeast, only 44 percent of people continue to have a landline – that’s still the most in the country.  

Cell service is a vital part of our infrastructure, and the outage is a good reminder of that. It got us thinking – What service providers do Bedford people use for their cell service? You know the major names, but there are some out there that many people may never heard of.
