Movie ‘Challengers’ Opening this Weekend – What’s Bedford Thinking?

Think back to the spring of 2022. Covid was still the dominant story, but there was another big story here in town. Hollywood came to Bedford.

From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, “Challengers” stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – “West Side Story”), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – “The Crown”) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win. The movie stars Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor and it revolves around a tennis star. 

Many of the tennis matches took place at the Wedgewood Club. It was a lot of fodder for possible sightings of the stars. If you remember a while back when “Little Women” was being filmed in Concord, you would also see posts on social media that Emma Watson and Laura Dern were seen at Bedford Farms. Or did you see Meryl Streep and Bob Odenkirk at Whole Foods?  

Bedford is not immune from being starstruck.
