Members of Troop 194 gathered with Carleton Willard’s (CW) management, staff, and residents to celebrate the official opening of the new 160-foot-long boardwalk on Saturday morning, Dec. 16.

Troop 194 built this boardwalk in 2022-23 as a service project for the CW residents. The scouts and adult leaders worked together for a total of approximately 250 manhours over the two years to complete the elevated boardwalk on the nature trail at CW. The boardwalk lets residents walk safely over marshy and unstable ground.

Committee Chair Allan Coady led the project design and the organizing of the build days.

A message on the Troop 194 Facebook page includes, “Community service is a core value of Scouting and we are grateful that so many folks took time from their weekends to help other people.”
