Acting Friends of Depot Park President William Deen will enlighten all who attend this program, using details from his recently published book, Minuteman Railroad: Boston and Maine’s Lexington Branch. His book contains 212 pages, 191 photographs, and 27 maps. It tells the colorful history of the Boston and Maine’s (B&M’s) Lexington Branch, which operated from 1846 to 1981. Passenger service was extremely popular and vital to the growth of these towns. In 1900, the B&M line ran 28 steam trains daily in Bedford, 44 in Lexington, and 60 in Arlington. The public is invited.  

Shawsheen Tech will host its annual 7th grade Project Explore program for Bedford Residents starting on February 27, 2024. This free quality education program is an opportunity for students to visit Shawsheen and explore 6 of the 20 vocational-technical programs over a three-week period.  Bus transportation will be provided from the middle school, and bus rides home will be provided to various stops in town.

The MMIP Painting Project began not as a project at all but with the intent of it being just one painting to show support for the Missing & Murdered indigenous peoples crisis. Artist Nayana laFond created the first painting on May 5, 2020, the day of remembrance for MMIP. She shared it online and the response was so overwhelming she did one more, yet again intending that to be the end. The response to the second was even more and so Nayana opened her inbox to anyone wanting to be painted not expecting the 25+ the received the first day.Stories

Bedford Special Education Parent Advisory Council - SEPAC The mission of the Bedford Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is to establish better understanding of, respect for and support of special education to meet the needs of all Bedford students with disabilities. Activities include parent/guardian networking, communication with school officials, outreach to the community, state and national organizations, and sponsorship of educational forums. SEPAC meetings virtually each month over Zoom. Come and discuss special education programming in Bedford and how we can best support our children.
