An Obituary: Michael L. Schofield

October 19, 2023

Michael “Mike” Lee Schofield was born on Nov. 29, 1980, and was the youngest child of Richard H. and Maria L. Schofield of Bedford. He died on Monday, Oct. 16 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington only hours after being admitted, due to a pulmonary embolism.

Michael was a life-long resident of Bedford. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1999 where he played both baseball and football for his high school team. As a member of the football team, he played quarterback and was elected as co-captain his senior year. As his coaches would agree, Mike always gave 110 percent both on and off the field.

Michael earned an associate degree in computer sciences, and also attended courses at Northeastern University. After trying several career alternatives, including a stint with the DPW in Bedford, Michael ultimately settled on a career where he could best use his developing business and personal skills. Upon successfully attaining a license as a real estate appraiser, Michael started his own appraisal business and was sole owner of Value Real Estate Services.

He is also survived by his nephews, Ryan and Jason, who he loved dearly. Mike was proud to be their beloved “Funcle,” and Ryan’s godfather. He is also survived by aunts and uncles Paul and Birgitta Schofield of Santa Rosa, California; Maria “Alice” and Ilidio Silva of Medford; Albert and Gail DaSilva of Wareham; and Ligia and John Reis of Ontario, Canada. Michael also is survived by many cousins who he loved spending time with.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford.
