An Obituary: Allister J. MacLeod

Allister J. MacLeod, 86, a long-time Bedford resident, passed away on Sept. 30, 2023.

He is survived by his son William, daughter-in-law Debra, grandchildren Laura and Mark, great grandson Cameron, sister Thelma, brother-in-law Fred and several nieces and nephews. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Donna B. MacLeod.

Al was born on Dec. 28, 1936 in Boston and grew-up in Belmont. He ran track at Belmont High School. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in business and was a member of the Army ROTC.

Al served in the US Army for four years and was based in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. He continued working for the Army as a civilian in the Washington. D.C. area.

He then took a job with GTE in Waltham and relocated to Bedford. After retiring from GTE, Al volunteered at the Salvation Army.

Al loved music and sang in the choir at Grace Chapel for many years. He was a member of the Sounds of Concord Barbershop Chorus in the 1970s and ’80s.

Al loved the ocean and enjoyed spending time with his wife at Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
