One of the great traditions in the summer is getting ice cream at Bedford Farms. Bedford Farms is the oldest business still operating in Bedford, tracing its roots to the 1880s. Originally a dairy farm, Bedford Farms started serving ice cream in the 1940s.
Bedford Farms holds a special place for those people who have left and come back to visit. Said one person, “When my family comes from Poughkeepsie, the first thing they do is head for Bedford Farms. And they always order the same thing. Each person has a special preference.”
Everybody has their favorites. When I go to Bedford Farms, I always look at the board and read the options, but I almost always get my old favorite. (Coffee Oreo).
