An Obituary: William J. Bieren

William J. Bieren, 82, of Bedford passed away on Aug. 24, 2023 after a short hospital stay at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. 

He was born on Sept. 18, 1940. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Bedford High School and a member of the BHS baseball team winning Dual County League Championship that was inducted into the BHS Hall of Fame on Nov. 27, 2010.

A 1967 graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Academy, Bill served 30 years on the Bedford Fire Department as both a Firefighter and EMT. He retired in 1997.

After 30 years of service, Bill maintained his involvement within the community serving within both of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion organizations.

He spent his summers enjoying time with is family and friends on Salisbury Beach and Aruba.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 30 years, Susan A. Brown; sons Craig Brown, John Bieren, and James Bieren; grandchildren Madison and MacKenzie Brown, Joshua Miller, William Bieren and Kassidy Bieren; great grandchildren Isabel, Anna, Braden, and Owen. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Ann Bieren along with many nieces and nephews. 

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Shawsheen Funeral Home, 281 The Great Rd. in Bedford. Family and friends invited.
