An Obituary: Anne M. Yatsko

July 19, 2023

Long-time Bedford resident Anne M. (Niemiec) Yatsko passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 16, 2023 at the age of 90.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert S. Yatsko. Anne was predeceased by her mother, Julia Niemiec; her sister, Romayne Jaworski; and brother John Niemiec.

Anne was born in 1932 and grew up in Scranton, PA. She married Robert in 1957 and then moved to Maryland and to New Jersey during Robert’s engineering career. Anne had a successful career as an executive assistant at Fort Monmouth in NJ, where she worked before starting a family. They relocated to Massachusetts in the late 1960s, settling in Bedford with their three young daughters.

Anne was an active member within the Bedford community, donating her time as a Camp Fire Girls troop leader and to the Bedford Patron of Music Students (POMS) program.

Anne M. (Niemiec) Yatsko

Following Robert’s death in 1980, Anne remained in Bedford with her family. She was employed at Liberty Mutual as a client service representative. She retired in the late 1990s and took a part-time job at Marshalls in Bedford to help fill her days and spend time with her grandchildren.

During her retirement, she traveled with friends and family, babysat her grandchildren often, and made delicious meals for her family. She was an avid reader, follower of current events, and word search puzzle aficionado. She moved to Brightview Concord River in Billerica in 2017 where she continued to thrive among new friends and nearby family.

Anne will be remembered for her resilience, courage, style, and humor, as well as for her delicious apple and blueberry pies. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

Anne is survived by daughter Carolyn Colantuoni and her husband, Michael of Saugus; daughter Pamela Stone and her husband Brewer of Mill Valley, CA; and daughter Kristin Marcus and her husband Paul of Bedford. She is the cherished “Nana” of Catherine, Robert, Brewer, and Hayden.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, in St. Michael’s Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford followed by a burial service in Shawsheen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at https://ahatribute.funraise.org/fundraiser/anna-m-yatsko.
