Kaylee Grace threw a masterpiece and her offense provided more than enough support as the Bedford High School softball team trounced longtime rival Wayland on Wednesday, 9-3.
Grace came as close as you can to a no-hitter as the Warriors’ first hit came with two outs in the seventh inning. The senior struck out 14. Wayland’s three runs were unearned.
Bedford scored twice in the first inning and that turned out to be all Grace would need. The Bucs went into the bottom of the sixth leading 4-0 and added five more.
The attack was balanced up and down the lineup. Grace drove in a run with a triple, Lexie Masters had two RBI, and other base hits were registered by Kate Patterson, Mia Vitti, Lulu Steele, Ani Eskandarian, Alice Cooprider, and Madi Diperna.
The team, now 3-1, will play their next game on Wednesday, April 26 at Waltham.
