Another day, another softball victory for the 7-0 Bedford High School Buccaneers on Monday afternoon.
And another gem by junior pitcher Alyx Rossi – a no-hitter at home against Burlington with 15 strikeouts and one baserunner, on a walk.
“Clutch hits, solid defense, and outstanding pitching and baserunning,” summarized Head Coach Dennis Walsh.
Bedford scored what turned out to be all the runs it would need in the first inning when Alice Cooprider delivered a clutch two-run hit with two outs. The team put the game away in the fifth with RBIs by Kate Patterson (two), Audrye Dumlao, and Mia Vitti.
Dumlao doubled twice and Lexie Masters had two hits in the game. Ani Eskandarian, playing second base, made a defensive play in the seventh inning that preserved the no-hitter.
The girls host a quality Lincoln-Sudbury team at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
