The 2023 Annual Town Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27 in the Bedford High School Auditorium (9 Mudge Way). Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. All Bedford registered voters are eligible to vote at Town Meeting, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Town Meeting is democracy in its purest form. The tradition of Town Meetings began in the New England colonies in the early 1600s. Bedford is one of the nearly 300 towns in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that uses Open Town Meetings as their legislature.
The pandemic forced the town to be flexible in conducting Town Meeting. In the last three years, there were three different venues and two different start times for the meeting. For this year’s meeting, the Town has moved the start time up to 6:30 p.m. The idea is that the earlier start time may make it easier for more people to participate.
