The 21st Danny Oates Memorial 5k Road Race and 2.5k Walk will again be part of the Bedford Day celebration  on Saturday, September 19.  Starting at the John Glenn Middle School, the 5k course features mostly flat, residential streets, with a Kids Fun run on the track just prior to the race for ages 3-10.

Run and Walk registration is $20 before the event, $25 on race day, and $5 for active service military personnel. Registration includes a long-sleeved tee for all participants. Why register early? All registrations before July 31 are entered in our drawing for an iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaning robot. You go for a run- it stays home and cleans!!!

The Danny Oates Memorial Race was founded to pay tribute to the beloved son of Bedfordites Robert and Judy Oates.  Bob is a retired member of the Bedford Fire Department and member of various civic organizations; their son Brian currently serves as one of our local firefighters.  All proceeds of the race fund the Danny Oates Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Frank W. Thompson Lodge.  In 2014, the organization gave out over $15,000 in scholarships.
