The Gallery@First Parish in Bedford is pleased to announce the upcoming art exhibit “Affirmation of Life: Art from Today’s Ukraine” which will be on display Saturday, Sept. 23 through Saturday, Oct. 7.  The Gallery@First Parish is located at First Parish in Bedford, 75 Great Road, Bedford, MA.   The show will be a rare opportunity for visitors to see and enjoy contemporary art from Ukraine. Reception for Art Show: Three Bedford Artists

On Sunday, May 21, the Gallery@First Parish invites you to attend the opening reception of the current show that features Bedford artists Nancy Daugherty, Pat Pellegrini and Nancy Willett.  The reception is from 11:30 to 1:00 in the gallery at First Parish.  Nancy Daugherty, local artist,  is showing photographs that feature silhouettes and shadows while Nancy Willett, artists and former Day Care teacher and administrator, shares with the audience her watercolors, collages and Icon.  Former teacher, now deceased, Pat Pellegrini's work consists of watercolors, pastels and acrylics all of which have not been displayed in public before now.  Both Nancy

“Ukraine 101: Root causes of the Russian invasion in context – Ukraine’s history, culture, and people”

First Parish in Bedford is hosting a two-part presentation on Ukraine:   Sunday, Jan. 29 and Sunday, Feb. 5 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. Vlad Shapiro, a Ukrainian-American from Kviv, will speak briefly about the root causes and current state of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.  Vlad will also provide background on cultural & historical differences between the Ukraine & Russian populations, Ukraine’s place in the global economy, as well as key information about Ukrainian culture and traditions. “Celebrating Ralph Vaughan Williams: The Musical Soul of England” with Bradford Conner

Please join us for this free HYBRID event -- both IN-PERSON and via Zoom:   Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) is considered to be one of the greatest of all English composers.  Born in Gloucestershire, England, he showed an intense musical talent from a young age.  He wrote in all genres of music-- operas, ballets, chamber music, secular and religious vocal pieces, hymns, and orchestral compositions, and nine symphonies – all in the course of sixty years.  Vaughan Williams was particularly interested in music from Tudor times and English folk music and carols.  He was almost single-handedly responsible for the resurgence
