Bedford’s First Congregational Church, 25 Great Road, will host its 2024 Rummage Sale on two days: 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 3; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Admission is free and a $1 donation at the door will benefit the Bedford Food Bank. This year’s Rummage Sale will feature a wide variety of white elephants, books, puzzles, household goods and small appliances, sports equipment, children’s toys and games, and costume jewelry. (No clothing, shoes, or soft goods will be sold.) Free parking is available behind the church, and the Rummage Sale is handicapped accessible. For
Former Bedford Historical Society Executive Director Alethea "Lee" Yates will lead a Panel of Baby Boomers in "Growing Up in Bedford During the Baby Boom." In addition to Yates, this panel will be comprised of baby boomers who actively contribute to a Facebook group called “You Know You’re From Bedford, MA if...,” managed by Yates. The Baby Boomer period encompassed almost two decades after World War II (1945-1965); U.S. boomers today range in age from 58 to 78 and total almost 72 million Americans. A series of bicycle rides for active seniors. All rides will start in front of the Council on Aging (COA) at 10AM. Rides are 16-18 miles long. You should be able to maintain an average pace (including hills) of at least 10mph, and have a multi-speed bike in good condition. We'll try to stay mostly on back roads, but we will spend some time on busy roads, so you should be comfortable riding with traffic. After the ride, we'll have coffee and snacks at the COA.
