Bedford musician Howie Rashba will perform a concert of folk favorites. He'll be joined by Mel Green, a veteran of the folk scene in his native South Africa, as well as London, the Poconos, Greenwich Village, and Cambridge, where he worked with luminaries such as Sandy Bull and Rosalie Sorrels. The program will include familiar favorites such as "Lemon Tree," "Blowing in the Wind," and "Wimoweh". Singing along is strongly encouraged!
A series of bicycle rides for active seniors. All rides will start in front of the Council on Aging (COA) at 10AM. Rides are 16-18 miles long. You should be able to maintain an average pace (including hills) of at least 10mph, and have a multi-speed bike in good condition. We'll try to stay mostly on back roads, but we will spend some time on busy roads, so you should be comfortable riding with traffic. After the ride, we'll have coffee and snacks at the COA. Course Description: Latin Rhythms is a dance fitness class that will keep you moving and smiling the entire time! Featuring rhythms from Puerto Rico to Africa, this introductory class focuses on Latin inspired movement and rhythms, such as salsa and merengue, and combines cardio, basic footwork and easy stretching to leave your body and soul feeling joyful. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 7 pm the Bedford Center for the Arts Photo Group will welcome back Emily Belz to critique Image Sharing Projects showcasing new work of various themes from eight BCA members. Six to eight images will be presented by each member and critiqued by Emily. Emily Belz is an independent photographer, educator, and curator based in Lincoln, MA. She is a place-based artist; her photographs focus on telling stories through the traces, objects, and slants of light that have been left behind. Course Description: In this class, students will be introduced to the technical aspects of their camera to better understand how to control exposure for more expressive photographs. We will briefly cover strategies for digital image organization and storage, and we will cover visual considerations around light, framing, timing and design. We will focus on the technical aspects of the camera and exposure in the first few weeks, then we will turn our attention to the visual. Short assignments and brief critiques will be offered.
