The April meeting is on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 The Great Road, in Bedford from 9:30 AM Social, 10:00 AM. Our speaker is Karen O’Brien. She will speak on Herbs Beyond the Basics: 10 Herbs Everyone Should Know and Grow Karen has gardened for more than 40 years and is certified as a Master Gardener. She is actively involved with The Herb Society of America and with the International Herb Association, serving on their boards. The Rotary Clubs of Bedford and Concord have teamed up to pack meals for the hungry and food insecure right here in Massachusetts in the Hope for the Hungry event on April 27th. This year, we’re partnered with Meals of Hope, a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) that is committed to bringing people together to fight the hunger epidemic. Hope for the Hungry relies on volunteer participation to package meals and help the event run smoothly. Former Bedford Historical Society Executive Director Alethea "Lee" Yates will lead a Panel of Baby Boomers in "Growing Up in Bedford During the Baby Boom." In addition to Yates, this panel will be comprised of baby boomers who actively contribute to a Facebook group called “You Know You’re From Bedford, MA if...,” managed by Yates. The Baby Boomer period encompassed almost two decades after World War II (1945-1965); U.S. boomers today range in age from 58 to 78 and total almost 72 million Americans.
