One of the best and most distinguishing characteristics of Bedford is its high rate of volunteerism — so many committee members, event organizers, coaches, advocates, and elected officials who sacrifice their time to strengthen the fabric of our town. And among them, few have contributed as much to Bedford as Dan Brosgol.
In this day and age, it is nearly impossible to have Dan’s long record of service and high visibility while still maintaining the level of approval and respect he enjoys. I attribute that to the fact that Dan is a servant leader who models kindness, humility and curiosity. He never assumes he is the smartest person in the room, and possesses an uncanny ability to maintain a sense of humor even during the most difficult conversations. These are invaluable leadership traits.
When Dan announced he was running for select board, my genuine reaction (just after “how do two working parents of five find the time?”) was that as a town we are lucky he is willing to step up once again.
Thank you, Dan, for your commitment to Bedford, and thank you, Elizabeth and kids, for sharing him.
