An Obituary: Mary ‘Marie’ Dutra

Mary “Marie” E. Dutra, 82, of Bedford, died on Feb. 4, 2024, in Arlington.

She was born in Somerville on Dec. 12, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Augustus and Agnes (Slowe) Dutra.

Marie was a graduate of Somerville High School and worked as a secretary at the Hanscom Air Force Base until her retirement.

She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, watching Boston Celtics basketball, music and singing. Trips to her brother Richard’s house on the Cape were always fun and memorable times for her and the family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Philip Dutra, sister Claire Dutra, and her sister-in-law Joan (Fitzpatrick) Dutra.

She is survived by her four nieces with whom she was very close to and who loved her dearly; Meg Michaud and her husband Michael; Joanne Murphy and her husband Tim; Susan Kimmell; and Pam Brady and her husband Tom; and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, beginning at 7:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, MA 01730.
