The Bedford chapter of Mothers Out Front wishes to express our sincere appreciation for the contribution Margot Fleischman has made to the lives of present and future Bedford inhabitants.
She has worked to make Bedford an environmentally responsible town where we take climate change seriously. She served as the Select Board liaison on the Energy Task Force/ Energy and Sustainability Committee for many years.
She had an impact on a number of important local climate initiatives. She was integral to getting Bedford’s Net Zero Plan for buildings developed and adopted. She supported increasing the percentage of renewable content in the Community Choice Aggregation electricity contract, creating an Energy and Sustainability Manager position, and adoption of the Specialized Energy Code. Her work on the Davis Road boardwalk expanded safe alternatives to car travel for that part of town.
Due to its enormous climate impact, we thank her for her leadership on the issue of food waste and our shared goal to achieve townwide curbside food waste pickup for composting.
During her nearly 12-year tenure on the Select Board, we have admired her depth of knowledge, insight, and wisdom. We are especially grateful to Margot for modeling a commitment to inclusivity and compassion for others that resonates with the commitment to justice and equity at the core of Mothers Out Front.
