BHS DECA Team Fundraisers for State Competition – Chocolate and Frank Pepes

January 23, 2024

Submitted by Klara Stevens, Bedford High School DECA member

The Bedford High School DECA Chapter recently advanced to States where they will be competing against schools from all over Massachusetts.

DECA is a competitive club where students can compete in various business events in marketing, finance, and hospitality. They have the option of either competing in a role play or submitting a paper that will be presented before a judge. The Bedford Chapter is run by the school’s business teacher, Justine Flora.

The club consists of about 40 members, all of whom participated in the district competition this past December. They all prepared for the weeks leading up to the event, working on their projects and studying for their exams.

The students who placed include Joe Capone, John Campos, Paul Caruso, Finley Halloran, Grace Holland, Levana Lin, Makayla Noun, Anthony O’Brien, Joe Patterson, Melanie Perales, Diya Singh, Maya Singh, Klara Stevens, and Zach Shen. They will be going to the DECA state conference from March 7 to 9 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston where they will have the chance to advance to Nationals.

The club is hosting multiple fundraisers to support their upcoming trip to Boston, and would be extremely grateful for any donations.

The first fundraiser is an online candy shop where you can purchase chocolates just in time for Valentine’s Day. These candies can be shipped to any address and the club will receive 20 percent of the profits. The second fundraiser will be held at Frank Pepe’s in the Burlington Mall on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Whether you dine in or take out, 25 percent of the profits will go to Bedford DECA. All you have to do is show your server the flyer and let them know that you are there for the fundraiser.
