As winter approaches, the Rotary Club of Bedford is gearing up for a momentous occasion – the 35th Annual Winter Community Breakfast (formerly known as Breakfast with Santa). This year the event is from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Dec. 10 at Bedford High School, offering an extraordinary morning filled with joy, community spirit, and a multitude of delightful activities for all ages. Tickets can be purchased online at bedford-rotary.square.site

Bedford High School will be transformed into a winter wonderland, embracing the holiday season’s festive spirit. The morning begins with a hot pancake breakfast that includes sausages, scrambled eggs, and an array of breakfast items.

While indulging in a delicious breakfast, children and families can also partake in winter crafts, immersing themselves in the creative spirit of the season. Each child attending the event will receive a commemorative coloring book to take home. Children of all ages can enjoy games and activities inspired by various cultural traditions, celebrating the coming of winter together.

The core objective of the Winter Community Breakfast remains constant – to raise funds to be used by the Bedford Rotary Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to making positive change in Bedford and around the world.

In 2022-2023, the Foundation supported initiatives such as Destination Imagination, BHS Interact, the Bedford Police Department, Backpacks and school supplies for families in need, Scouts, BHS Musical, and the Parents Diversity Council within Bedford itself. Beyond Bedford, the Foundation’s reach extended to Lowell (Girls, Inc.), Appalachia (St. Paul’s service trip), Sierra Leone (school supplies), Ukraine (clothing), and even international meal packaging with Rise Against Hunger. Additionally, the Foundation was involved in planting a native pollination system garden growing right in the center of Town, promoting environmental sustainability and the well-being of local ecosystems.

Student and adult volunteers are needed to help run the Winter Community Breakfast. Please sign up via Signupgenius. High school students will be given credit for community service hours.

If you are looking to connect with a group of adults who enjoy serving the Bedford community and beyond, consider joining the Rotary Club of Bedford. This is a non-religious, non-political organization that is part of Rotary International, which earns a 100 percent score and a four-star rating on Charity Navigator.
