The Bedford Community Santa program is heading into its 78th season of providing a Dec. 24 visit from Santa to the children of Bedford. Registration is open for the 2023 program on the bedfordsanta.com website.
The volunteer-run program offers a short evening visit on Dec. 24 by Santa to any family household within Bedford. The program and visit are free to any home in the 01730 Zip Code that will have children (residents or visitors) under the age of 12 on Christmas Eve.
Bedford Santa is open to every child regardless of religion, beliefs, or financial situation. Santa will discreetly supply donated gifts for children going through financial hardship, without questions.
The program will not be mailing out registration postcards this year. Residents are asked to remind their friends, relatives, and neighbors to register online before Monday, Dec. 4.
Bedford Santa will also be collecting gift cards for Youth and Family Services to hand out to families at the Bedford Plaza Hotel, as well as low-income families around town to be able to pick out and purchase winter holiday gifts for their children. Gift cards should be in $25 denominations for Target, Marshalls/TJMaxx, and Ocean State Job Lot (stores that families can reach easily on foot or via public transportation). Amazon and Walmart gift cards will also be welcomed.
Gift cards can be dropped off in the box in the lobby of the Bedford Police Department or directly to Youth and Family Services or the Health Department during office hours. For other drop-off or donation alternatives, stay tuned to the Bedford Santa Facebook page or contact Bedford Santa at [email protected]. Bedford Santa is always looking for volunteers, especially on Sunday, Dec. 24.
