Star Wars Day. Kentucky Derby Day. Rhode Island Independence Day. There are lots of reasons to celebrate on Saturday, May 4.

The folks at Mango Bay Equestrian Center at 253 Davis Rd. are inviting residents to drop by their Mango Bay Day Block Party from 1 to 6 p.m.

Kerry Bosman, an expert in equestrian wellness, purchased the historic farm more than a year ago. At the time, she said part of her vision was “to create a place for community.” Indeed, there was an indoor open house last fall.

The agenda for May 4 includes live music, lawn games, a Boston Burrito food truck, and draft beer.

“It’s a social event, a place to come enjoy the scenery with your friends and family,” Bosman said, encouraging attendees to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

The horses are a centerpiece of Mango Bay, and they will be part of the outside landscape, Bosman said. She added that from 1 to 2:30 p.m., visitors can tour the barn.

There’s a charge of $20 per person (children up to age 10 are free) and available to pay at https://mangobayequestrian.com/community-events. In case of rain, the event will take place in the barn.

Parking will be on the property, indicated by signs. Although the Kentucky Derby won’t run until after the event, Bosman said she plans to project some of the pre-race coverage for viewing.
