If you’re going to tune up for post-season tournament play in boys’ soccer, it helps to finish the regular season in the high-level Dual County League.

The 8-1-4 Bedford High School Buccaneers host Boston Latin on Tuesday, Division 1 powerhouse Concord-Carlisle on Thursday, and Lincoln Sudbury next Monday – all beginning at 4 p.m. on Sabourin Field.

Thirty-two teams make the statewide playoffs, which begin late next week, and the Bucs are positioning for one of the top four seeds in MIAA Division 4 play. That would guarantee home games as long as they keep winning until the final four, played at neutral sites.

On Saturday, Bedford blanked Wellesley High School in the rain, 2-0, as the seniors were recognized before the game.

Head Coach Dave Boschetto applauded “great defending from senior Capt. Sean Morrison and juniors Max Mezheritsky, Jake Bowman, Ronan Melfi, and Brandon Gu.” He also cited the “great work from senior Capt. Akira Ung after a month out with a knee injury.”

After a scoreless first half, Bedford broke through on a play that started with Morrison’s goal kick, settled by Leo Natalizio, the junior forward. He played a ball through to Eshan Pandey, and the senior took the ball past the Wellesley goalkeeper and defense and finished near post.

The second goal, a few minutes later, was scored by Natalizio, who nutmegged the keeper for the insurance goal. Ung set the goal up after stealing a Wellesley throw-in and passing forward to Natalizio.
