Jonny Garraway (second) and Carter Rauch (fourth) led the Bedford High School cross country team’s junior and senior boys to a seventh-place finish in Saturday’s Frank Kelly Invitation Meet, sponsored by the State Track Coaches Association in Wrentham.
Garraway covered the three kilometers in nine minutes, 37 seconds, and Rauch was 16 seconds behind that time. There were 254 runners on 22 teams. The other Bedford finishers were Oren Brosgol (40th place), Simon Bendersky (74th), Anthony O’Brien (102nd), Micah Harfield (112th), and Alex Brough (153rd).
Other results from the invitational were:
- The girls’ varsity team placed eighth out of 22 teams in the championship five-kilometer race. Addi Poulter placed 23rd with a time of 19:46 and Sam Sheahan was 24th in 19:51. Also running-Anna Massaro finishing 46th, Grace Niu (78th), Vivian Liu (102nd), and Farrah Scott (133rd). There were 215 runners.
- Bedford finished 17th out of 35 teams in the three-kilometer boys’ race for freshmen and sophomores. Sahill Rotella led the Bucs in 33rd place, followed by Caden Shimko in 62nd, Patrick Salazar-Weibel (83rd), Adam Chao (169th), and Michael Cheng (223rd). There were 329 participants. In the girls’ three-kilometer event for juniors and seniors, involving 188 runners, Maddie Ota placed 43rd, Michelle Wong (77th), Emily Wang (141st), and Swetha Kaundinya (170th).
- Bedford placed 13th in the event for freshman and sophomore girls, featuring 210 runners. Annaliese Randazzo placed 101st, Eliza Dickert (111th), Carinna Dogan-West (118th), Ariane Sweetland (119th), Asalie Brosgol (135th), and Mahita Susarla (152nd).
