Propelled by a five-game winning streak, the Bedford High School Buccaneers host the boys’ soccer team from Jeremiah Burke High School, Dorchester at 1 p.m. on Saturday on Sabourin Field.

Coach Dave Boschetto’s team, with a record of 6-1-3, was first in the statewide power rankings earlier this week, and slipped to second in the MIAA Division 2 ranking this morning – before victories over Tewksbury Memorial and Westford Academy. After Saturday, there are five more regular-season games.

Five Buccaneers registered goals in Thursday’s 5-1 win at Tewksbury: Sawyer Elliot, Celestin Hunziker, Vineet Joseph, Evan Luedde, and Leo Natalizio.

Tuesday afternoon, the defense and goalkeeper Grant Bouchard recorded their third shutout in a row, 2-0 at Westford.

Bedford began the game applying significant pressure with a number of corner kicks and long throws into the Westford box in the first 10 minutes. Westford gradually improved their possession and were dangerous on the dribble as the first half wore on.

With five minutes remaining, junior wing Vivek Joseph’s cross was handled by a Westford defender. Senior Capt. Sean Morrison finished the resulting penalty for a 1-0 lead.

Around midway through the second half, Natalizio, a junior forward, settled a long ball for junior Capt. Spencer Goss, who fired a shot into the lower right corner for what turned out to be an insurance goal.
