The Bedford Arts and Crafts Society (BACS) has planned several exciting events to be held on Bedford Day, Saturday, Sept. 23 that together will support next year’s annual BACS scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating Bedford High School student who plans to pursue an art-related degree and career.

BACS Annual Regional Art Show

At the Annual Regional Art Show and Sale, people can browse original artworks and crafts by BACS members and others. Art by Amelia Hill, the 2023 BACS scholarship winner, will be on display as well. At the same time, people can bid on some original paintings that will be part of the Silent Auction.

The art show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 in the Union Room at the Town Center. For artists planning to participate, information and entry forms are available on the BACS website at http://www.bacsma.org/bedford-day. For inquiries about the art show, send your questions to [email protected].

Amelia Hill Awarded the BACS Scholarship

Browsers at the Regional Art Show may view selected works by Amelia Hill, the 2023 BACS scholarship recipient. Amelia is attending the Mass College of Art this fall. Amelia was also recently recognized with a first-place award for one of her paintings in the 2023 Congressional Art Awards. BACS warmly congratulates Amelia on these notable achievements.

BACS Craft Sale

BACS artists and crafters have been hard at work creating original items for BACS’ outdoor tables. Drop by the craft booth to check out the wide array of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind greeting cards, decoupaged pendants on cords and silver chains, mini-paintings on easels, Christmas ornaments, holiday earrings, eyeglass chains, glass bowls, and more. With autumn and holiday gift-giving in mind, let these tables be your go-to spot for one-stop shopping.

Silent Auction

At the Art Show, the BACS will host a silent auction featuring watercolor paintings donated by the family of the late Evelyn Rice, a dedicated BACS member for many years. The silent auction includes pieces by Margrit Mason and Bea Falabella, who were both BACS members, and by Ruth Wynn, a local watercolorist. Bidding will be open at the Art Show and winning bidders will be announced at 2 p.m.
