Who is Cooking at Home – What’s Bedford Thinking

April 21, 2023

A recent survey found that most Americans cook at home on a regular basis (69%). Here in the Northeast that number climbs to 78% of people who cooked an average of 10 home-cooked meals a week. The reasons cited were higher quality, better ingredients, and overall health.

One thing a lot of people missed during the pandemic was not being able to go out to eat. Now that everything is open again, people are back to dining out. That got us thinking: how many people actually cook in the first place?

So what’s Bedford thinking? How often do people cook at home? Cooking is a bit vague. For the point of this survey, let’s consider any meal that requires some prep – not just microwaving leftovers or a prepared meal that needs to be heated.

What's Bedford Thinking? I cook/prepare on average of:

  • 15 meals or more a week (48%, 85 Votes)
  • 7 to 14 meals a week (31%, 55 Votes)
  • 1 to 6 meals a week (15%, 26 Votes)
  • I never cook (7%, 12 Votes)

Total Voters: 178
