Bedford’s curbside collection of Christmas trees begins on Tuesday, January 7.
Republic Services will start collecting trees in the neighborhoods located in Voting Precinct 4 and progress through the town finishing in Precinct 1 by Friday, January 10.
The Department of Public Works is asking residents to put out their Christmas trees by 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. Before putting the Christmas tree at the curb, residents must remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, plastic bags, and other objects.
“We’re asking for residents’ cooperation to make sure to remove anything from the tree that wasn’t on it when you first brought it in your home,” said Ed McGrath, Bedford’s Recycling Coordinator. “Trees in plastic bags will not be removed. And, trees still adorned with ornaments, lights or other decorations will be left at the curb.”
Republic Services will bring the trees to 108 Carlisle Road where they will be chipped and added to the wood chip pile.
“If your tree isn’t picked up by Friday afternoon, January 10, contact Republic Services at 1-800-442-9006,” McGrath said.
