OARS — the organization that supports the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord Rivers — seeks energetic & dedicated people for part-time summer positions on the organization’s Invasive Plant Rapid Response Team and as Environmental Education Interns. Application deadline for both positions is Tuesday, May 28.
Invasive Plant Rapid Response Team
OARS is hiring two Environmental Assistants to remove emerging populations of water chestnut on sections of the Assabet, Sudbury and Concord Rivers. Training to locate, remove, and dispose of plants will be provided. Work is primarily on the water from a canoe.
Employment: June 24 – August 3, up to 150 hours. Qualifications and application details.
Environmental Education Interns
Two interns will assist in teaching hands-on waterside workshops to children ages 6-10 years old in Westborough, Marlborough, and Framingham.
High school and college students interested in education and having a demonstrated love for the outdoors, the environment, and working with children should apply.
Employment: Average of 12 hrs/wk for 8 weeks from late June through mid-August. Program information and application details.

OARS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to protect, improve and preserve the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord Rivers, their tributaries and watersheds, for public recreation, water supply, and wildlife habitat.
Established in 1986 as the Organization for the Assabet River by a group of concerned citizens, OAR added the Sudbury and Concord Rivers to its mission in 2011, becoming OARS. Currently, the organization has approximately 1,000 individual and family memberships, a 12-member Board of Directors, and four full- and part-time staff. Together with our volunteers and partners, OARS has made significant progress over the past 32 years towards achieving our mission.
