What popular seasonal storybook features a train ride and snow? Bedford has a train! And Mother Nature helped out with the season’s first measurable snow. The Polar Express was alive at Depot Park on Saturday afternoon.

Organized to benefit Friends of Matty and the Lowell Transitional Living Center, organizers said the event sold out early. Kids were invited to come in their PJs and climb aboard Bedford’s Buddliner at Depot Park to listen to the story of The Polar Express.

A conductor punched tickets, hot chocolate was on the menu, and each child received a silver sleigh bell to take home. In their tent, Santa and Mrs. Claus listened to the children’s gift lists and reminded them that Christmas Eve is barely two weeks away.
