On a chilly night in early April, no one would’ve expected a boat race in Bedford, except for the fact that it was Bedford Cub Scout Pack 194’s fifth annual Raingutter Regatta. Held indoors at Bedford High School, in special raceways filled with water, about 30 boys used their lung power to blow into the sails of model boats.

The Raingutter Regatta is named for the original tracks that were made of common house gutters, on which the small model sailboats raced. The new version involves model trimaran boats racing in a wider inflatable track.
Cub Scouts in grades 1 to 4 excitedly raced in heats and cheered on other scouts as they competed to be Pack champion.
