This year’s 30th Annual Rotary Breakfast with Santa was a joyous, feel good, eat well success! Santa arrived at Bedford High School on Engine One, right on time and spread good will and cheer to kids and adults alike. In addition to meeting Santa, children enjoyed holiday coloring, face painting, crafts, and balloon animal making. Over 500 attendees ate a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausages and more, and the event was supported by another 80 or so volunteers and sponsors. Most importantly, our community raised over $15,000 to support Rotary’s local and international service projects.
Locally, Rotary provides significant annual scholarship support for Bedford High graduating seniors. The club is also completing the installation of a “victim’s room” at the Concord Courthouse. International projects that the club is driving include an MIT student-based initiative to create a Radically Affordable Rural Education (RARE) program in Kenya, an annual Meals for Kids food packaging event, and a recently completed program supporting maternal health in Mali.
“The community support behind Breakfast with Santa is what makes this event so special.” said Linda Cargiuolo, President of the Bedford Rotary.
Sixty-nine companies and individuals made financial or in-kind contributions in support of the event. Major donors included LEAP School, Keller Williams Realty Boston Northwest (Debbie Spencer), The Goddard School, Middlesex Savings Bank, AFC Urgent Care Bedford, Chestnut Dental, Coldwell Banker (Diana Jarvis), Enterprise Bank and Trust, Tom & Christine Pinney, Salem Five Bank, and Sport Clips. Sora Doubletree Bedford, Flatbread Company, iRobot, DSA Printing and Art Smith Associates provided significant in-kind support.
