Numerous local businesses and individuals were instrumental in the success of the Sept. 29 fundraiser for Communities for Restorative Justice. C4RJ, a nonprofit founded in Concord in 2000, now partners with17 police departments: Acton, Arlington, Bedford, Boxborough, Burlington, Cambridge, Carlisle, Concord, Groton, Hudson, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, Sudbury and Wellesley, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
We want to thank to Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan, the evening’s master of ceremonies, and our guest speaker, former U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Gertner. Both individuals underscored how restorative justice offers victims of crime a path to healing and perpetrators, often juveniles, a chance to repair the harm they caused without getting a court record.
The event, including a spirited silent auction chaired by Carolyn Gold and Anne and Tom Rarich, exceeded our $40,000fundraising goal to support volunteer training and expansion of C4RJ partnerships to additional towns.
C4RJ is grateful to the Leadership Business Sponsors: Cambridge Savings Bank, EMC Corp., Lexington Alarm, and Newbury Court, New England Deaconess, in honor of Jean Bell, co-founder of C4RJ. We also appreciate our Supporting Business Sponsors: Affordable Family Dental; Boston Private; Briones Law Group; Dane, Brady & Haydon, LLP; Hirsch Roberts Weinstein, LLP; Jeff Adams Construction; Law Office of Samuel Goldberg; Nashawtuc Architects; Sue Revis, CRS, CBR; Suzanne & Company; and our Business Friends: Barrett Sotheby’s International Realty; Enterprise Bank; and Acton Teamworks.
