On top of the regular fun to be had at Springs Brook Park, there are also special events throughout the summer. Some events happen every week but also there are one-time special guests and performers.

The weekly events add to the fun that Springs Brook Park already has in store. On Mondays, visitors can come to the park for Bingo at 3pm. On Wednesdays, the lifeguards are not just guarding the water, but also are available to play games at 2:45pm. On Thursdays there are arts and crafts at 3pm.

“In the past we have had performers come to the park, but the weekly events are new,” said Raeann Gembis, the Adult Program Coordinator and Springs Brook Park Administrative Coordinator.

“[The events] are typically in the afternoon because kids don’t get out of the water during the day. When the event ends is usually when the visitors head home for the day.” Gembis said.

One special performance is on Tuesday June 21 at 3pm. Jackson Gillman, The Stand-Up Chameleon, will be at the park to put on a show with comedy, music and mime, according to the Springs Brook Park 2016 brochure.

The following Tuesday, June 28 at 3pm, Silly Willy will be making an appearance at the park. Silly Willy will be doing magic tricks and making balloon creations. He has appeared at the park before and has been really great with the kids, according to Gembis. “We have a lot of performers that we ask back year to year,” she added.

The Fourth of July is a special celebration at Springs Brook Park with activities for one and all, throughout the day. Starting at 1pm there will be a “bending gravity show,” described as “a one of a kind, break-taking experience of object manipulation.” There will also be watermelon and a DJ playing in the afternoon.

The Fourth of July events “have always been a tradition, and we always have fresh watermelon.” Gembis said.

As the schools let out for the summer, grab your beach bag and head for the park for more than just some swimming and an ice cream, but also a myriad of events.
