The Recreation Department’s Winter Brochure will soon arrive in your mailbox, but an electronic copy is available online (Click here to read it!) and registration opens at 9 pm on December 6. The offerings are plentiful, and the best classes fill almost immediately.
The Winter Brochure’s cover features work by artist Sue Marion, a professional artist who grew up in Bedford (www.muralsandmore.net) Sue will lead Bedford Recreation’s first “Paint Party” at The Great Wall Restaurant on Sunday, January 24 at 1:30pm.
In addition to the Paint Party, adult programs include blacksmithing and stone carving to mixed media and oils; Looking Ahead to Spring with master gardener Peter Coppola; cooking programs; and general interest sessions on topics from preventing ice dams to meditation and energy balancing.
There are sports and fitness classes, starting with Baby Gym, fitness for tiny kids who are not yet walking. Yoga classes are offered for pre-schoolers, elementary and middle-schoolers, teens and adults. There are sports lessons and leagues Adult fitness classes range from T’ai Chi to Aqua Zumba. And there’s the Family Pool Pass, a 15-visit family package at the DoubleTree hotel’s Atlantis Club pool.
And don’t forget the vacation camps!
The Recreation Department’s Neighbors Helping Neighbor program offers residents an opportunity to contribute to a fund that supports families who might otherwise be unable to afford Recreation programs. It is available online by adding Neighbors Fund to your cart and adjusting the quantity to the amount that you would like to donate.
