Bridges-CoA

Submitted by the Bedford Council on Aging

The Bedford Council on Aging is looking for adults age 55 and older to participate in an intergenerational program called Bridges:  Growing Older, Growing Together.

Bridges:  Growing Older, Growing Together unites elementary school students with senior members of the local community, in an effort to promote mutual respect, understanding, and friendship between generations. The commitment from volunteers would involve one hour each week for a total of 6 consecutive weeks. The program will begin on Tuesday July 8 and will be held at the Town Center Building (12 Mudge Way).

The mission of the Council on Aging (COA) is to provide services, programs, and activities to maintain and increase the independence and quality of life of Bedford’s 3,293 residents 60 and older (25% of the population), to provide assistance for family caregivers and professional elder service providers on whom Bedford elders depend, and to promote an interdependent, multigenerational community that is prepared to support the needs of the coming influx of older adults.
