Grab your bikes and join over 400 kids from Bedford and surrounding towns to ride in support of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its Jimmy Fund. This is Bedford’s 9th PMC Kids Ride and thanks to our riders & sponsors we have raised over $700,000 for the Jimmy Fund to date. Events like the PMC Kids Rides give everyone an opportunity to fight back against a disease that takes so much, at so many ages, while simultaneously stressing the importance of raising funds to find a cure for all cancers. We look forward to seeing you there!

Pre-Ride Events

The Ride – Saturday, June 15

9:00am: On-site registration and all bikers arrive to get in their route corrals.
9:30am: Roads close and opening ceremonies.
9:45am: Riders head out on their routes!
10:00am-1pm: Party with music, food, drinks, activities, raffle and more!

Choose the route that is right for you:

  • Wally’s Way, an obstacle course for tykes on trikes;
  • Yawkey Way, a 1/2-mile route on the premises – perfect for kids on training wheels;
  • GreenMonster, a 3-mile ride for young adventurous riders;
  • BigPapi, a 6-mile ride for more experienced riders;
  • BigPapiSlam, a 10-mile ride for those who want a real challenge; and
  • Fenway, a 12-mile off-road route that travels the rail bed to Concord (must be entering 7th grade). See route maps for more detail.

Riders will be placed in groups of 10-12 riders with an adult volunteer leader and sweep. Water stops are set-up along the routes and volunteers and police officers will be out on the road to cheer on the riders and keep them safe. Be sure to print out the route map to practice the route prior to Ride day. Remember the rules of the road: ride on the right side of the road with traffic (roads are open during the event), be sure to give yourself enough space between other riders, call out when turning or use hand signals, ride slow and in control. All riders including adults are required to wear a helmet. Go PMC kids!

Fundraising

The money raised by PMC Kids’ Ride helps Dana-Farber Cancer Institute care for patients and find new ways to cure cancer. Big donations, small donations – they all help! Consider this:

  • $1 buys lens wipes for microscopes that researchers use to see what drugs destroy cancer cells.
  • $5 enables a patient who can’t afford gasoline to drive to life-saving treatment.
  • $10 buys a bag of test tubes that may hold the key to why cancer cells grow and how to stop them.

Every dollar makes a difference!
