At the start of the Selectmen’s meeting last night, Chair Cathy Cordes went on record to publicly thank the DPW, Police, Fire, emergency communication crews, and Town Manager for their work keeping residents informed and safe during last weekend’s storm.

“I want to publicly thank them for an excellent job in dealing with the blizzard,” Cordes said. “I would also like to publicly thank the Governor for keeping people off the roads so the DPW could do its job and for probably saving lives along the way.”

“The Town is run by a very professional staff and does an outstanding job,” Cordes continued. “The Fire Department responded to a request for mutual aid on Friday night in Wilmington. There was a four alarm [fire in an] apartment complex that burned down. Our Fire Department was there to help.”

“I think we’re all very fortunate to live in a town like Bedford,” Cordes added. “I’ve heard a hundred stories of neighbors helping neighbors and shoveling out for people who couldn’t shovel out and I’m just very pleased that I live here and I bet that all of you [in attendance] are, too.”

Cordes asked Town Manager Rick Reed to pass on these words and sentiments to the Town staff.
