Bedford Center for the Arts embarks this month on its first-ever juried show of members’ work in collaboration with the Gallery Committee at the Bedford Free Public Library.   Work by Bob Bass, Bianca Bauer, Martha Brill, Gail Carrigan, Bruce Dawson, Kathy Deflice-Secor, Teresa Deible, Anita Field, Mary Aloyse Firestone, Ronnie Gould, Maria Green, Ellen H. Michaud, Michael Milicia, Astrid Reischwitz, Yvonne Sandell, Doris Smith, and Martha Shea Smith is included in the show. An artists’ reception will take place from 5 to 6 pm on Sunday, November 18.

Activities include the final fall ArtFlix in a comfortable home theatre in Bedford featuring photographer Sally Mann and opera lectures this month to prepare for upcoming Live in HD Metropolitan Opera performances. And there are updates on BCA’s Fall Sampler series, and BSO oboist John Ferrillo’s concert at Middlesex Community College.

This month’s featured artist is avian photographer and digital photography teacher Michael Milicia. BCA artists are out and about: Sing Hanson and Mary Johannessen will take part in Emerson Umbrella’s WinterMarket; Mary Johannessen will take part in West Concord Open Studios; Sean Dresel played at Main Street; and Mindy Pollack-Fusi, Linda Christen, Rhona Barlevy and Lea Ann Knight presented a workshop on self-publishing as part of Concord’s Festival of Authors.

The Blast’s list of local events is full of adventures in and around Bedford, and there is also news about BCA’s monthly events that take place right here in town: the photo group, our play readers  and  Art in the Afternoon.

Located on the ground floor of Old Town Hall, 16 South Road, Bedford Center for the Arts is dedicated to creating community through the arts: Arts for All and All the Arts. You can contact BCA by telephone, 781-275-0742; email, [email protected], or on the web at www.bedfordarts.org.
