Submitted by the Town of Bedford Recreation Department

Construction will begin Tuesday, June 25 on phase two of the Town Center Playground renovation project. The playground will be closed starting June 25 for approximately one month.

The Town’s contractors, ME O’Brien and Forte Landscaping, will be on-site throughout the end of June installing the rest of the project’s playground equipment including wheelchair-accessible items. (Phase One was started in the fall.)

Starting July 1 the project to install rubberized surfacing throughout the playground will begin.

During construction, the playground will be closed for residents’ safety, and to allow time for the new concrete foundations to cure and for the rubberized surfacing to be installed.

This project is paid for through the Town’s Community Preservation Fund in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Recreation Department staff. The project accomplishes several goals:

  • Refurbish and repair existing equipment.
  • Add new equipment and structures as space/budget allowed.
  • Add new backless benches within the interior of the playground for user comfort.
  • Install new rubberized surfacing making the playground fully accessible.

For questions or concerns about the project, please call the Department of Public Works at (781) 275- 7065.
