On Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 7 pm the Bedford Center for the Arts Photo Group will host Chelsea Sibereis for a virtual presentation entitled, Reimagining Family Photography: Finding Impactful Images in Everyday Moments.
“My commissioned work explores familial relationships through documenting daily life. I’m interested in how the experience of being photographed and witnessed so intimately alters the course of being, as a parent and as a child. I stay in contact with many of my clients past the moment of photographing and they often describe to me the ways the photos integrate into their lives as well as the ways the photos have given them insight into themselves and their parenting. Ultimately, it seems to be a process of deep confirmation.”
Chelsea lives in Belmont, Massachusetts. She seeks to explore and document family life as an attempt to define and understand the truth in family dynamics and the experience of being a child. Her work is built around her own struggle to belong and feel comfortable as a member of a family. She lives with her husband, two children, a dog and a cat. She imagines the ghosts of pets past are also members of the household. Chelsea Silbereis: Family Photographer
