In response to requests for in-person meetings, the Bedford Center for the Arts event with photographer, educator and author Bobbi Lane on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 pm will be held at the previous venue, Common Room, First Parish Church in Bedford, Elm Street Entrance.  Bobbi will give a presentation and demonstration of Portraits and Flowers:  Simple techniques for effective images.  Please note that this will be an in-person event only; there will be no Zoom option and the event will not be recorded … but there will be refreshments!

Everyone is either afraid of their flash or they hate it! In this presentation, Bobbi will show you how to make interesting and descriptive photos using minimal equipment. We start with flash camera basics including the difference between TTL and Manual and when to use each. The essential modifiers, including bounce cards, domes and grid spots are demonstrated with one flash on camera! This demo will teach you how to use your flash easily and with great effect to make stronger photographs of your subjects.

Bobbi Lane, a Fujifilm “X” Photographer, is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. Lane’s multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 40 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. Her corporate and editorial work includes corporate websites, annual reports and hundreds of environmental portraits for a wide variety of magazines. As a dedicated photo educator, she brings insight and enthusiasm to her students in workshops held worldwide. She is widely known as the “Mistress of Light”, teaching portrait lighting techniques with both natural and artificial light. Combining her love of travel, photography and teaching, Bobbi also leads international photo travel workshops with her husband Lee Varis, such as Venice Carnival, Tuscany, Neighborhoods of New York, and Scotland. Her dynamic workshops are always both educational and entertaining!
