Rep. Ken Gordon to Hold Bedford Office Hours on Tuesday, July 9

July 3, 2024

Ken Gordon, Bedford’s representative to the Massachusetts legislature, regularly holds office hours in town so that residents may have the opportunity to sit down with him for an informal chat on issues of interest.

The Tuesday, July 9 session will take place in Bedford at Steve’s House of  Pizza, 30 Shawsheen Ave., at 6:30 p.m. With this year’s legislative session set to end on July 31, this is an opportunity to bring questions and concerns to Rep. Gordon.

A veteran of five terms in the legislature, Rep. Gordon chairs the Joint Committee on Public Service. In this capacity, he has taken an active role in addressing challenges to the Civil Service laws.

In his June newsletter, Rep. Gordon reports:

“I am excited to continue work on the Common Start legislation, a bill I filed in the House with my colleague Adrian Madaro (D-East Boston) that will reform the way we pay for preschool and early child care. From the Joint Committee on Public Service, where I sit as House Chair, we have already moved a bill that will provide an additional benefit for first responders who are injured in the line of duty by an intentional violent act, such as a shootout or bomb. We next expect to release our bill that will provide for the most significant Civil Service reform in decades.”

In his May newsletter, Rep. Gordon notes:

“We are working collaboratively with Rep. Ciccolo as well as Concord Rep. Simon Cataldo and Lincoln Reps. Alice Peisch and Carmine Gentile to respond to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement submitted by the developers of a proposed hangar project on the Bedford end of the runways.”

Rep. Gordon works collaboratively with State Senator Mike Barrett to ensure that Bedford  continues to receive reimbursement  for the education of military students living at Hanscom AFB.
