More than 30 John Glenn Middle School grade 8 students were recognized for academic excellence during the June 13 Moving On ceremonies at Sabourin Field. Principal Jonathan Hartunian announced each winner by name and subject.
The honorees were:
Art: Winter Ackerman, Nicole D’Ascoli, Steven Sandler
Civics: Veronica Decerbo, Karina Haugen, Alan Li, Andrew Majnoun
English Language Arts: Jesse Cargiulo, Sylvie Denny-Brown, Kangbin Jia, Alan Li
English Language Learning: Helene Hernandez
French: Juliet Oliveira, Charandeepreddy Vakamalla
Math: Victoria Cargiulo, Kieran Heid, Keira Pandya, Hanna Suzuki
Music: Reena Bao, Cedric Last, Hanna Suzuki, Claire Zhang
Musical: Sylvie Denny-Brown, Keira Pandya
Physical Education: Jesse Cargiulo, Ansel Chiou
Science: Rena Bao, Louie Bonneau, Ein Jenson Dumadaug, Chloe Yii
Spanish: Bridget O’Connor, Olivia Washington
STEM: Sho Okamato, Bryson Tucker
Four eighth graders were cited for exemplary citizenship: Ansel Chiou, Abrianna Muramira, Hannah Sandler, and Ryan Venuti. They were given the honor of placing a wreath on the grave of Pfc. John Hart in Arlington National Ceremony during the recent class trip to Washington, DC. Hart, a 2002 Bedford High School graduate, was killed in Iraq in 2003.
