Pride Celebration Returning to Bedford on Sunday

Submitted by Stacy Chandler, Parents Diversity Council

The third annual Bedford Pride Celebration will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 on the Town Common. This event will take place, rain or shine.

Started in 2022 by Bedford Girl Scout Troop 71644, this new town tradition has been carried on by the Parents Diversity Council (PDC) and Bedford Youth and Family Services (BYFS).

Across the United States, the month of June has seen LGBTQ+ Pride parades and celebrations dating back to 1970 when the first Pride Parade was held in New York City to mark the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising

This year’s celebration on the Town Common will feature:

  • Tables from various groups with crafts, games, stickers, tattoos, and more
  • Live music from Zach Shen & the Funky Bunch and Cliff Chuang & Friends
  • A community art project (come make your mark on five canvases)
  • Eleen’s Ice Cream Truck
  • A just-for-fun photo booth
  • And a visit from the Non-Binosaur Phoenix and their new friend

“Acknowledging Pride Month is important because everyone should feel safe and comfortable being themselves wherever they are,” said Mallory Fuller, Bedford’s Youth Services Coordinator.

All are welcome to join this community celebration.

This event is supported in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. The event organizers thank Bedford Family Lawyer and Jennifer Kelley of Barrett Sotheby’s for their sponsorship of this event.
